Ride The North 2016

To all RtN club participants and those contemplating it, the event is probably the most worthwhile and enjoyable you will take part in.

There is no doubting it is tough but that all seems to drift to the back of your mind as the spectacle of the whole thing consumes you. You mainly see fairly happy faces, hear shouts of encouragement and are well looked after at the stops every 20 miles or so. In particularly the 'wifees' of Rhynie put on a grand spread of good wholesome home made food. Always a delight.

Along the route there is great banter in the groups, which is even better with your own DJ and pre-planned playlist belting out the tunes from their rear-end!

The routes are always meticulously planned and generally nothing is left to chance in the overall organisation. Well there is one thing .,. the weather! Thankfully it has been splendid these last two years.

Anyway, Stonehaven folks always support the event in droves and now with the club coming to prominence, they are all instantly recognisable in club kit. This gives a great sense of pride and community feel to this event and a sense of being amongst friends -those you already knew and many more from the weekend.

There were comments made about the kit and also of the support and encouragement club riders gave to all those out on the road over the two days. I believe there were also support for the lost soles in Johnny Foxes late Saturday night, evidenced by the pale green complexions on Sunday morning. Apart from one incident along the way everyone (that I know of) made it safely back to Rhynie. I'm glad to say the individual in the incident (which some of you came across) will make a speedy and full recovery.

Hoping to see even more of you there next year.

Great effort everyone.

Well done.

Cheers Willie
