Wed/Thurs night cycle details (13/14 Apr '16)

Date Published: 12th April 2016

Can hardly believe a week has gone past since the first mid-week run last week.

Going to keep things simple and keep things the same as last week.

Beginners/Slow groups will leave from the carpark at Mackie School at 6:15pm.

Thanks to those experienced riders who have offered to help lead those groups. We need more of you to lend your support for the coming weeks. Please contact Trish Greer to let her know you are available.

The Medium and Fast are going to do the Durris loop because it is familiar to most and the weather forecast at the moment is for rain. That being the case, sticking with the tried and tested is most preferable.

Meet at Stonehaven Leisure Centre with first medium group away at 6:15pm

Helmets and lights need, particularly as it will most likely be dull.

Riding etiquette is important when working as a group. Everyone was in fine form last week, showing sense and riding in single file on tighter blind sections along Durris while waiting to regroup at points before winding it up on the Netherley for the final push.

The group sizes were around 5, which is ideal. Its much easier to communicate and easier for other road users to overtake safely.

Also was great to see almost everyone had lights! Made a huge difference to being seen, particularly as we were finishing after 8pm as the light faded.

Will be the same again Thursday except the there is no beginners groups from Mackie. Instead Neil Macarthur will be taking a slow/slow medium group starting from bottom of Bervie Braes up around Barras. This is a great opportunity for newcomers to find there way. This ride leaves at 6:30 so be there in plenty of time.
