How to fix a puncture

Date Published: 7th April 2017

Having to fix a puncture is a frustration you will encounter many times as a cyclist, but every rider should know how to do it. If you don't know how to do this we recommend you practice at home.

Always check the condition of tyres and tyre pressures before you leave home. Worn tyres can fail spectacularly, you don't want to suffer a sudden failure on a high speed descent, and low tyre pressures increase the risk of suffering a 'pinch flat'.

Critically when repairing a puncture always carefully check your tyre before inserting a new tube for sharp objects or you may find your self repairing the same puncture, you will not be the first or last person to do this.
